Place the Saga Card

This method of box opening detection requires both the LED and the light sensor to be positioned as detailed here. Before placing a Saga Card into a box, locate the cutouts for the LED and the sensor on the face of the enclosure.

Saga Card - placement in a box

For best box opening reliability, follow these steps when placing the Saga Card into the box:

  • Orient the Saga Card with cut-outs facing toward the inside of the box.

  • Position the cut-outs as close to the opening flap of the box as possible.

  • Place the leaflet behind the Saga Card or below the cut-outs in the device.

  • Ensure that the cut-outs are not covered or separated by the contents of the box.

  • Ensure that the Saga Card and the box contents are firmly in place to prevent any movement within the box during handling.

This version of the Saga Card is designed to detect box-opening events in a box that is proportionate to its own size. Boxes that are too large will make the box opening detection feature unreliable. We recommend testing the Saga Card in similar secondary packaging to those on the images in this guide.

Important

You must close the box before activating the Saga Card to prevent premature box opening detection.

Activate via NFC

Once the Saga Card has been placed and the box is closed and prepared, you can activate the first Saga Card.

For each Saga Card, do the following:

  1. Place the box with the Saga Card onto the NFC equipment.

    1. Place the side of the box that has the Saga Card on the inside on the black square.

    2. Ensure proper alignment on the black square.

    Important

If the Saga Card is placed too far away, or if the box is mispositioned on the NFC equipment, an activation error may occur.

  2. Double-click the activation-step icon on the computer desktop to open the activation panel.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. Press any key once on the keyboard to exit the activation panel.

The actions taken during activation are written into a JSON file.
